Die Subud-Bruderschaft ist eine internationale, hauptsΓ€chlich aus der von Ahmad ChatΔ«b Sambas (1803–1875) gegrΓΌndeten javanischen islamischen mystischen Bewegung Tariqa Qadiriyya wa Naqshbandiyya (TQN)cite-ref-1[1] hervorgegangene Bruderschaft, die in den 1920er/1930er Jahren vom Javaner Muhammad Subuh Sumohadiwidjojocite-ref-2[2] (1901–1987) gegrΓΌndet wurde. Der Name ist ein Akronym der Sanskritworte β€žSusila Budhi Dharmaβ€œ.cite-ref-3[3]

Die spirituellen Übungen von Subud werden latihan bzw. latihan kejiwaan (indonesisch: β€žseelische/geistige Übungβ€œ) genannt.cite-ref-4[4] Die dem Sufismus nahestehende Bewegung hat auch viele AnhΓ€nger im Westen. Sitz von Subud Deutschland ist ein ehemaliges Forsthaus in Wolfsburg. Eine PersΓΆnlichkeit der Bewegung in Deutschland war der dortige KΓΌnstler Horus Engels; auch die zeitweilig in dem Ort lebende Schmuckdesignerin Vivianna Torun BΓΌlow-HΓΌbe gehΓΆrte ihr an, ferner der Puppenspieler Harro Siegel. Eine BroschΓΌrenreihe Subud Chronikcite-ref-5[5] erschien Anfang der 1960er Jahre.
